Quick Overview

Gary wanted an expedition bike for touring that could handle paved and unpaved roads. He also wanted self-reliance as he wouldn't know from day to day if he would have access to power. We chose the Bacchetta 700ATT frame with a Euromesh seat for versatility and light weight. We proceeded to spec it with components that have proven reliable and comfortable for him in the past.

The wheels consist of Velocity A23 rims laced to a SRAM X9 rear hub and SON28 dynamo front hub. While shown with road tires, larger tires can also be accomodated. The trustworthy Avid BB7 mechanical disk brakes provide exceptional stopping power and are easy to adjust/maintain on the road. The dynamo hub powers the B&M Luxos U headlight and Secula taillight. The headlight features a remote switch with a USB port for charging the GPS and other small items during the day.

A SRAM 10s drivetrain was selected with an 11-36t cassette and a compact triple front crankset. SRAM X0 10s grip shifters are simply the best on the market, shifting on smooth bearings instead of plastic.

Racks include the Bacchetta Universal Rack and the Terracycles Underseat rack and hold two sets of Ortlieb panniers to keep everything dry. Finally, the Bent Up Cycles seat bag provides easy access to items he may need throughout the day.

Bon' route, Gary!
